RocDoc and Festimed are proud to sponsor Patchworking Against Poverty.  Three of our staff have volunteered for the 2019 Medical Camp.

Patchworking Against Poverty is an outstanding charity founded in 2012, which arranges for volunteers, nurses and doctors to hold medical camps in Kenya. These camps provide medical services across multiple remote locations in Kenya. In addition to this vital direct care, PAP also assists in the improvement of the Wema Maternity Home and medical clinic in Kawangware, Nairobi.

In March 2019, Patchworking Against Poverty medical camps will be providing doctors, dentists, opticians and family planning nurses along with a testing lab and pharmacy. Patients will be screened for HIV, Malaria, STIs as well as cervical screening. There will be family planning talks, oral contraceptives, implants and injections. Cataract operations will be provided to up to 40 patients, and around 800 pairs of prescription glasses will be given out. Doctors will give treatment and follow up referral for chronic conditions, with some surgical referral also to be made. The medical camp will run for 6 days and 6 different locations in western Kenya in the counties of Kisii and Nyamira. Approximately 4,000-5,000 patients will be treated during this time.

As a charity organisation, Patchworking Against Poverty, continues its amazing efforts due only to the efforts of its hardworking volunteers and the donations it receives. This year 23 volunteers will be travelling to Kenya, of which, we are proud to count three current Festimed staff. All these volunteers pay for their own travel and are obviously unpaid whilst undertaking these clinics, the donations made to PAP go directly to the patients care and not into the charity.

For 2019 RocDoc and Festimed have donated 300 Malaria tests, 350 HIV tests, 60 STI tests, 120 pregnancy tests and 200 urine tests in addition to providing clothing and ID cards for all of the volunteers.

  • While there were issues in accessing my account, I contacted Customer Service and Anna was amazing. She went far above and beyond to ensure I was able to access the service and the results. She proactively rang me after the test to ensure I got the results and assisted to make sure they were received. It has been a very long time since I experienced proactive customer service like this.   • Tony is the one and only person who has answered my question in regard my desire to have an RT-PCR test that does not involve poking and prodding up my nose. I've had two of these so far and they just hurt like hell, during and after. So, knowing that RocDoc can do a throat swab instead is such a relief. Thank you Tony! Maggie

  • Getting an appointment via the website is easy and straight forward.
    You get your time slot and I did not have to wait which was great.
    The staff is very calm, friendly and nice.
    The women who did the test for me was very professional and polite. It did not hurt at all.

  • Absolutely fantastic customer care support, the agent I spoke to on the phone (Kyrsty) was really helpful! Even though her shift had finished during our conversation, she took the time to answer all my questions patiently. I will be booking with RocDoc soon before I travel.

  • Test results: received my results in less than 24 hours!! I had test at 22.15 on a Friday, received email with saying test was in progress, on Saturday at 18.53 received email with results (so got my results in less than 24 hours).

    Certificate: you have option to generate PDF and they send another email so you can print it out.

    The physical test: The tester was very gentle, explained everything. I felt nothing only a slight tickle in my nose for 5 seconds. This is not painful whatsoever. Bring your ID, it’s checked twice.

    Customer Service: excellent. I had to call twice about more the tech side and in terms of setting up my account and buying tests and they helped.

    Creating Account I would like an App rather than going onto website to log on. (Maybe there is one but I couldn’t find it)

    Price: In general the pricing for all of this should be cheaper. This company is one of the cheapest.
