Alongside our GP clinic we also have our Minor Emergency Department which is designed for minor illnesses and injuries. This facility was set up due to the locality of RocDoc being based within a community where transport times to hospital are significant and ambulance stations are not based within the immediate area.
Within RocDoc we have a reception area, main waiting area, children’s waiting room, private consultation rooms, paediatric consultation rooms, adult consultation rooms, resus bays, meeting rooms and also the ability to purchase some medications and over the counter items (e.g. local honey, paracetamol, ibuprofen, children’s paracetamol and ibuprofen, etc.)
Some of the illnesses / injuries that we CAN see are (for a full list please see below):
- Wound closures (suturing, glue, steri strips)
- Burns and scalds
- Tetanus matters
- Minor head injuries
- Blood tests
- Panic attacks
- Ear, nose and throat infections
- Insect and animal bites
- Dressing care
- Cellulitis (skin infections)
- Allergies and hay fever
- Soft tissue injuries (sprains, strains, dislocations, etc.)
- Back pain
RocDoc is prepared to deal with major injuries and illness also until such time as the ambulance service arrives, we are not however in the position to manage these patients fully or on an ongoing basis. We also have the ability to treat serious patients on a short term life saving basis whilst the ambulance is en route to our location. Please remember that we cannot provide ongoing care for such patients as these types of patients need to be treated in specialised hospitals and would be conveyed off site to a hospital that specialised as such so that they can receive the best possible and appropriate care. If you are in a situation such as this please call 999 or 112 and request an ambulance immediately.
If you are unsure if we can facilitate you then please contact us on 0818 543 999 and we are more than happy to advise you directly on suitability of referral.
